Slovenia

Cycling and so much more

19 -26 June 2025

Slovenia is something that has been on our wish list as a tour destination for some time - not least because we have had so many requests to visit it. So for 2025 we have put together what we think is a great package not just for cyclists but for anyone who enjoys stunning scenery and the outdoors generally. We have chosen our base in Bled by the famous lake (pictured above) for good reason. Not only is there a multiplicity of shops and restaurants in the town but the lake and surrounding area offers plenty for everyone to enjoy. For non-cycling partners walking and boating are an obvious alternative and we have also designed some less demanding routes for the more casual peddler too! The hotel has a wonderful spa offering a variety of treatments, massages etc and there are plenty of sights to see too - not least Bled Castle and the famous Vintgar Gorge . . . BUT yes there is also some fantastic cycling! Take a quick look at the topography of the country and it is no surprise it has produced such a wealth of cycling talent particularly when the road starts to go uphill.  The Julian and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the Karawank chain, northern Slovenia along its long border with Austria.  The scenery is stunning and the cycling equally so and we have access to some great rides from our base in the four star Hotel Kompas.   All-in-all we reckon we’ve come up with something that will satisfy you whether you are a cyclist or not.

“Each and every day of our planned trip was a new experience and adventure. This was the first time my husband and I had participated on a biking tour and we came back regretting not having done this before! We are in our early 70s and 80s and our small group included much younger and more expert bikers but Dyll was extremely attentive to our needs and capabilities and never left us behind or stranded. His knowledge of the area and the various routes we could bike on considering the weather and our needs was excellent. . . We came back home totally energized and wanting more!
