The challenge of the Pyrenean cols
Having cycled from Avignon to Nice with us previously the group who commissioned this trip from Toulouse to Girona were keen for us to design their next challenge and the Toulouse to Girona Tour was born. Combining stunning scenery with the challenge of tackling some famous Pyrenean Cols, this tour was not for the faint-hearted but among its many rewards it offered breath-taking views. The tour opened with an ascent of the Col de Peyresourde which has frequently featured in the Tour de France and continued in similar vein as our clients took on the Col de Menté and the Col de Portet d’Aspet - and that was just on the first day! After three days they finished in Girona, having ascended the famous Rocacorba climb en route.

*As with all Viva Velo trips we endeavour to use 3 and 4 star hotels wherever possible and where not we do our best to choose the characterful and charming.
** Flights from Girona airport can be limited/expensive so there was an option of transferring to Barcelona if clients preferred.

This is based on two sharing a room on a bed and breakfast basis and does not include flights, drinks or evening meals although the following are available on request:
Single room supplement - £245 pp
Halfboard option on nights 1, 2 and 4 - £35 pppn
Barcelona transfer - £50 pp
itinerary
Given the already demanding itinerary, the tour ‘proper’ began in Saint Lary Soulan rather than Toulouse itself which avoids 160 kilometers of largely flat roads and cuts straight to the chase of the Pyrenees. If anyone is keen to ride every pedal stroke of the way though just let us know and we can add this to your trip! And for those who’d prefer not to rush home at the end of the tour there is the option of an overnight stop in Girona.
Day -1: Arrive Toulouse: Transfer to Saint Lary Soulan
Day 1: Saint Lary Soulan to Saint Girons via Cols de Peyresourde, Menté and Portet d’Aspet
Day 2: Saint Girons to Ax-les-Thermes via Massat, Saurat and Tarascon-sur-Ariège
Day 3: Ax-les-Thermes to Puigcerda
Day 4: Puigcerda to Olot via Massela y La Molina
Day 5: Olot to Girona with option to climb the Rocacorba Depart Girona/Barcelona
