Sardinia offers a multiplicity of landscapes and terrains for the cyclist to enjoy. Combine this with the excellent spring and autumn temperatures and you can rapidly see why it is attractive as a cycle tour destination.
This tour, originally designed for a group of a dozen clients, took us to the north of the island where the volcanic coastline around Alghero gives way to a huge plain which overlooks the sea with striking calcareous promontories. In the north-east, the granite relief of the Gallura area has distinctive profiles carved by the wind through time. All this, combined with the often quiet roads, makes for some wonderful cycling which we thought would be ideal for this mixed ability group. We designed the tour to provide challenges and relaxation in equal measure, and while the total climbing tops 6,000m the gradients are largely gentle and, as such this trip proved to be a favourite for both experienced and intermediate cyclists alike.
